'Song of The Fly' is a different proposition to 2010's 'Visitors' (
CD LR 567).
This time there are eight dark provocative 'songs', subjected to spontaneous improvisation from
an acoustic ensemble setting violin, saxophones, piano and bowed bass within a plethora of global
stories. One track, 'Snow At Easter', includes a short sample from Anthony Braxton's 207 composition.
Day's songs deal with tough times and new horizons. Extraordinary playing is pitted against the
subject switch of modern India to Moscow, through to personal demons and the fly on the wall;
a fascinating journey of exploration.
