Latest news: From 18-Sep-2011 there will no longer be any CD downloads via Lulu.com since they end offering digital files.

Music downloads for releases since March-2010 are in MP3; all other¹ LEO RECORDS' CDs are in OGG VORBIS music compression format; our downloads are provided via Lulu.com and are DRM²-free for your convenience. The nominal audio bitrate is at least 192 kbps (most are 224 kbps), except CD LR 801/808 (176 kbps), CD LR 382/383 (128 kbps), from CD LR 388 to CD LR 400 (128 kbps), and CD LR 402/405 (128 kbps).
Since Sep-2009, in addition to ogg format downloads, we started to offer a few downloads for selected CDs in lossless FLAC format.

Leo Records now uses Lulu.com as download provider. On our website we show the download prices we set at Lulu in US$. If you are not located in the USA, you probably see Lulu prices quoted in GBP or in EUR, but you can, if you wish, change the currency at Lulu checkout. Leo Records is not responsable and has no influence on Lulu's currency conversion rate!

To buy a download please
1. Click on "Buy download" on the catalogue or any of the individual CD pages, which brings you to the Lulu website.
2. Click "Add to Cart" (JavaScript must be enabled for Lulu.com)
3. Now either checkout at Lulu by clicking "Save & Continue" or click on any [LEO RECORDS] item in your Lulu shopping cart. Each item description provides a link back to the LEO RECORDS website.

After completing Lulu.com checkout and download, on Windows, please unzip the file archive, and start open the ogg files, e.g., with of these player: VLC, foobar2000, or Zinf to listen to the music; most other popular music players also support Ogg, see Get setup to listen to Ogg Vorbis!

(All downloads are verified to play with VLC, foobar, and Zinf; all downloads decode to WAV using Vorbis tools OggDrop, oggdropXPd, and OGGDEC.)

How to Burn Audio CDs from OGG on Windows
Download the free Vorbis tool oggdropXPd for your operating system. oggdropXPd is a drag-and-drop Ogg Vorbis encoder/decoder/player. Simply unzip and start the program. (no need to install; simply run it after unzipping.) To decode an Ogg to WAV: drop the ogg file(s) you want to convert to WAV into the oggdrop window and wait for the decoding process to complete. (If you drop a file called Track01.ogg that creates a file Track01.wav in the same directory.) With the WAV file(s), you can now burn an audio CD with your favorite CD burning tool. (Another OGG-to-WAV decoder which works with all our downloads is OGGDEC included in the free Vorbis-tools.)

How to burn audio CDs from ogg on Mac OSX
If your Mac is not yet ogg-ready.

1. Purchase and download the ogg files from Leo Records (via Lulu.com)
2. unzip
3. Download Switch from www.nch.com.au/switch/
4. unzip and open. Drag ogg files from download folder into Switch. Allocate a destination folder, and output [WAV]. Click Decode
5. Switch will automatically download Vorbis Tools plug in. Allow it too. [If it doesn't google and download]
6. Import the WAVs to itunes and play or burn audio CDs.
7. You can also drag your WAV files into itunes which will automatically convert them to MP3 files. You can retitle, play, burn audio CDs, allocate to playlists, etc., as usual. (Just using the Vorbis tools plug-in for itunes allows to play the downloaded songs but not retitle or burn them to CD.) In general, to avoid re-encoding losses, audio CDs should be burned from WAV created from ogg directly.

How to play Ogg on iPod and other mp3 Players

Rockbox is a free and an open source firmware for mp3 players, runs on Apple iPod, Archos, Cowon, iriver, Olympus, SanDisk, and Toshiba, etc. Rockbox currently supports the following codecs: MP3, Ogg Vorbis (.ogg), AAC, MPC, AC3, FLAC, Wavpack (.wv), Shorten (.shn), ALAC (Apple lossless), Monkey's Audio (.ape), WAV, AIFF.

Those who don't like Rockbox might want to check out IPodLinux which also allows to play OGG on IPod, which is only one among many other features.

We compress the music with the high reputated Ogg Vorbis encoder and put all tracks in a zip archive named according to the artist names, title, and CD-id.
